Crowned champions Liverpool ends its 30 years wait for a premier league title

Liverpool has ended their three-decade-long wait for a league title. It is their first title in the new premier league era.

Their title win was confirmed after Manchester City lost to Chelsea by 2-1 at Stamford bridge. Christian Pulisic gave Chelsea the lead which was then canceled out by a brilliant free-kick by midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne. But a late penalty given away by Fernandinho for handling the ball which was coolly converted by Willian gave the blues their win.

With the final whistle it was confirmed that Manchester City could no longer catch Liverpool and Liverpool were crowned champions for the first time in the post premier league era.

I am sure Jurgen Klopp and this Liverpool team will go down in the club’s history book for finally ending their premier league drought. They are also the current champions league holders. Jurgen Klopp has turned this Liverpool team into winning machine which is evident by the fact that they have won the league title with 7 games to spare. Now Klopp’s men need 15 points to smash yet another record of the maximum points in a single premier league season which will be cherry on top for this Liverpool team.

With this title, Liverpool has overtaken Manchester United in becoming an English club with the most titles won with 44 combined titles in comparison to Manchester united’s 43. Klopp was overwhelmed with the win and could not hide his emotions in an interview with sly sports where he said “ it’s unbelievable. It’s much more than I ever thought will be possible,”

He then added “ I am completely overwhelmed. I never thought it would be like this. I had no idea.”

The fans can finally end their agonizing wait for celebrating their title win amidst all the coronavirus scare and rumors of the league getting canceled this season. All the fans can finally be relieved to end their thirty years-long waits for a league title. Liverpool will get a guard of honor in their next game which is coincidentally at the Etihad Stadium against the current champions Manchester City, a team which they lost the title to last year with a solitary point. So it will surely be a bittersweet experience for Liverpool and Klopp’s men.

John Barnes whose penalty won Liverpool their last league title all the way back in 1990 summed it up perfectly. He said, “They haven’t won the league tonight, they won the league in the performances they put in throughout the season and have been so far ahead of everyone else this season.”
Liverpool has been runner up 5 times since the new premier league era began, the most by any team in that duration. So this win is going to be very very sweet for the Liverpool team and their supporters.

So the bottom line is, Liverpool are the premier league champions and record breakers because no team has won the premier league era with 7 games to spare and they could yet break another record for the maximum points in a single season.
